it's all fun and games until somebody loses a smoke detector

Okay, so maybe I was a little too cheeky regarding the initial ambulance crew that came to do the certificate of occupancy at our house. But I am happy to say that the second crew that came for the inspection on Saturday morning was fabulous. They were professional, funny, and even brought along a newbie to train. The only problem was that our smoke detector system is definitely broken. So even if the original crew had been able to test, we'd still be scrambling to to find an electrician or home security system  person to come deal with the problem. We can only wonder how long we were living with detectors that didn't set off the horn. To be completely honest, the detectors detect but the horn doesn't go off.....  A technicality that offers no relief, to be sure. We've got people coming on Wednesday to get everything squared away - fingers crossed.
