meals on sidewalk

The girls at my school have a community service requirement each year. A group of them wanted to volunteer with Citymeals-on-Wheels - the New York version of Meals on Wheels. A friend and I agreed to be their chaperones. First of all, meals-on-wheels in Manhattan just cracks me up. Definitely no wheels were involved. Foot power - that's how we got around about a 15 block section of the Upper East Side. We visited 11 seniors who were homebound. Except for the one guy whose doorman told us he was out socializing (!) and wasn't home to receive our meals, the girls were able to deliver two hot meals and one cold pack (some stuff like milk and fruit to get them through the weekend) to everybody. I have a new appreciation of these big thermal bigs we used to carry the meals. The photo is of the logo on the bag.
