Salt Lake City

Bob and I were out in Salt Lake City for a few days for a math conference. By Friday afternoon I was conferenced out and I convinced Bob to walk around and take in a few sights. We knew we didn't have time to rent a car and go up into ski country, but I at least wanted to go to Temple Square and see the Tabernacle. We spent a lot of our time dodging "helpful" Mormons. Let's just say that we were afraid to hang out in any one place for too long for fear of being converted. I did get to see the inside of the Tabernacle. I blew it on actually being able to hear the choir sing. There is an open-to-the-public rehearsal everything Thursday evening, but I only figured this out on Friday morning.... If I'm ever back in SLC and it's a Thursday, I'll be sure to attend. I finally got Bobbie out of the Square - I really was afraid he was going to break out in hives or make a disparaging remark about official religious underwear. As a consolation gift, I took him to the Union Pacific train station that was built in 1909. I must admit, it was pretty cool space. So I give you pictures of two temples - depending on your religion....
