You've heard of interpretative dance. Now you get interpretative reading. You haven't experienced a children's book until you've heard it read by Bob. One night on vacation, Maia decided that Bob would read her a book, no matter what he might think. This was after they drew all sorts of geometrical shapes together. (Owen and I drew some too.....) She was kind of half drunk on sleepiness and once she climbed into his lap she was a giant mush. But she (and the rest of us) was captivated by his running commentary on cactus, pronunciation, and whatever else struck his fancy while reading Josefina Javelina: A Hairy Tale. It was hysterical. It is also a darn good book. Whenever you grab your tutu and your concertina, I'm there.

We walked by a coyote skin today and Maia asks John what it was. So John says 'it's the skin of a coyote'... immediately she says 'and somewhere Coyote sang the blues'.
