A week or two ago, Bob and I went to see the Eggleston show at The Whitney. While we were there, we were pleasantly surprised by a Calder show that is titled something like "The Paris Years." I was expecting a bunch of the circus stuff (which was indeed included in the show) but what I wasn't anticipating was the sheer number of fabulous wire sculptures and animal sketches. It was all really, really great. So yesterday when a friend was in town, I played hooky for a little bit and dragged him over to the museum to see the Calder show. It closes soon, I think. Here is a photo of one of the pieces that was in the show. So cool!
