I spent my day in the Bed-Stuy neighborhood of Brooklyn yesterday helping out at a soup kitchen. The organization did more than serve breakfast and lunch, it also has a medical clinic, a food pantry for families in need, and it provides legal and tax services for those who request it. All in all it was an overwhelming experience. One of the interesting parts of the day was just getting there via the subway system. I had to take three different trains and the last part was on a very cool elevated line. I'll upload some pics later in the week. In the meantime, here is a photo of the amazing soup that Bob made for us last weekend. I am grateful that our hearts and tummies are full.
