phoenix

I spent three days in Phoenix last week. I was a home-improvement maven. I climbed up a ladder and cleaned out the gutters to my grandmother's patio. I convinced her to buy a new tree to replace the lemon tree that bit the dust during the heat of last summer. We trooped off to lowes to buy an orange tree, a new pot, some soil and a little tomato plant. Then, according to my grandmother, I worked her to death. We cleaned up the detritus of the old tree, planted the new tree and dug a lot of dirt. However, Hummer and Humette, the resident humming birds have deemed the plantings a success. They were buzzing around checking out the new scenery once we repotted everything. I didn't really take a lot of pictures on my trip, but I just love this picture of my grandmother and her siblings. Sorry about the quality - it's a photo of a photo. Can anyone guess at the year of this?

I think I remember someone saying this was taken when Julia graduated from high school, maybe 1956-58.....I have this photo, too. It is a gem.ma
